Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to Reopen this Month

Energy, Environment & Climate

12 September 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Grants available for public sector bodies to fund energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation measures.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) launched the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to provide grants to public sector bodies to fund energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation measures.

Delivered by Salix Finance, the Grant Scheme will allocate grant funding which strongly aligns with BEIS’ mission and priorities: fighting coronavirus, backing business, unleashing innovation and tackling climate change.

Phase 3 of the Scheme will provide £1.425 billion funding over the financial years 2022/2023 to 2024/2025, through multiple application windows.

The first Phase 3 application window, Phase 3a, closed to new applications in November 2021. Phase 3b is planned to open later this month (no earlier than 19 September).

The main aims of the scheme are to:

  • Deliver stimulus to the energy efficiency and low carbon heat sectors, supporting jobs
  • Deliver significant carbon savings in the public sector.

Public sector bodies in England are eligible to apply.

A joint application can be made for more than one eligible public sector body.

For Phase 3, there is no funding cap on the value of grant an applicant can apply for.

Phase 3b will allocate up to £635 million of funding to be spent in financial years 2023/24 and 2024/25. This is split by financial year, with up to £402 million to be allocated for 2023/24 and up to £233 million to be allocated for 2024/25.

Phase 3b of the scheme is scheduled to open in September 2022 (the exact date to be confirmed).

How To Apply

Phase 3a closed. Phase 3b of the scheme is due to open in September 2022.

Applications must be submitted online through Salix Finance's online application portal.
