Landlord/tenant support scheme
If you are considering entering the rental market, are an existing landlord, or have an empty property, then we would like to hear from you. Your views are an essential part of how we shape our services. Please follow the link to take part in our landlord survey:
Please see our privacy information below.
We can help you find long-term tenants and you can help those most in need to find a home. Here’s a list of support available:
Matching tenants to properties
Our homeless department speaks to people in urgent need of housing every day. We will work with housing officers to ensure suitable tenants are matched to the right property.
Support with accessing deposits and rent in advance
We operate the Carlisle Deposit Guarantee Scheme and give advice and support in accessing rent in advance.
Benefit advice and safeguarding rent
We have a dedicated team working to ensure that those on low income and benefits are able to access their full benefit entitlement. We can apply for housing costs to be safeguarded so rent payments are made directly to the landlord.
Our extensive housing team will support tenants in setting up and maintaining their new home. We will work closely with tenants to address any support needs by helping to develop independent living skills, learning to budget, developing support networks and accessing external agencies and services.
We will act as a point of contact for landlords and tenants if further support is required to ensure the smooth running of a tenancy.
All rental properties must be kept in a good state of repair. Landlords will be asked to provide tenants with an up to date energy performance certificate, gas and electrical safety certificates and a copy of the “How to Rent” booklet.
