Aviva Community Fund (with Crowdfunding)

Community Funding

12 January 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Grants are available for not-for-profit organisations in the UK who can raise their initial funding through a crowdfunding campaign for projects that address Aviva’s current themes of climate champions and financial empowerment.

The £1 million Aviva Community Fund is provided by Aviva plc, a British multinational insurance company headquartered in London. It is the largest general insurer and a leading life and pensions provider.

Please note this is a match-funding initiative delivered in partnership with Crowdfunder and thus not a traditional grant scheme (funds awarded are conditional upon applicants first securing crowdfunding via Crowdfunder’s platform).

How To Apply

Applications are open all year with quarterly funding rounds for eligible charities.

The first step is for applicants to set up a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdfunder. Campaigns typically run for 28 days but take a few weeks to create so groups should allow about six weeks in total.

Full details and the online application can be found on the Aviva Community Fund crowdfunding page.

The timeframe for the first round of 2022 is as follows:

  • 1 February 2022 (23:59) – deadline for Round 1 submissions
  • Submissions will be reviewed by Crowdfunder for eligibility.
  • 1 March 2022 - all Crowdfunder pages go live. Groups can share their projects with their networks of supporters to raise public donations.
  • 8 March 2022 - projects then go to Aviva Community Fund employee donations
  • 5 April 2022 – groups need to reach their fundraising target in order to receive an Aviva Community Fund donation. Groups that have not reached their target can keep their page open and continue public fundraising.
  • Groups that reached their fundraising target will receive the Aviva Community Fund donation.
