Funding to help prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease in the UK.
The latest rounds of SUBWAY and Heart Research UK (HRUK)’s funding partnership will see five grants of £15,000 each awarded throughout the year as follows:
- Two in England
- One in Scotland
- One in Northern Ireland
- One in Wales
Funding is for new projects that work with communities to prevent heart disease, particularly for vulnerable and isolated groups of individuals who are at an increased risk of developing heart problems in the future.
Activities must focus on one or more of the following risk factors of heart disease:
- Nutrition and Healthy Eating.
- Physical Activity.
- Smoking.
- Alcohol.
Not-for-profit organisations in the UK with a turnover of less than £1 million are eligible to apply. This includes charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, and sports groups.
The grants are available in specific regions at certain times of the year.

Application windows for 2023 are as follows:
- Wales: 30 March 2023 to 27 April 2023.
- England: 11 May 2023 to 8 June 2023.
- Scotland: 6 July 2023 to 3 August 2023.
- Northern Ireland: 17 August 2023 to 14 September 2023.
