Deadline Reminder for Armed Forces Families Fund: Early Years

Support & Resources

22 November 2022/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Funding to support early years education providers in proximity to an Armed Forces Base.

There are about two weeks left to apply for the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s programme which seeks to enhance childcare provision offers for Armed Forces Families across the UK.

The Fund is open to private, public and non-profit sector nursery providers as long as they are located within five miles of an Armed Forces base and serving a large proportion of children aged 0 to 5 from Armed Forces families.

Applications must include a supporting statement from an Armed Forces sponsor. This should be:

  • A uniformed serving member of the Armed Forces.
  • Not below the rank of Captain (Army/Royal Marines), Lieutenant (Royal Navy), Flight Lieutenant (Royal Air Force) and could be, for example, the Station/Unit Commanding Officer or the Unit Welfare Officer.
  • A civilian equivalent sponsor with sufficient knowledge of the garrison/area if a uniformed Armed Forces sponsor is not available.

Funding should be used to help ensure that children from Armed Forces families have access to Early Years education environments that best represent their needs for learning and development.

The grants can be spent on a variety of costs associated with project delivery including staff, materials and overheads.

The deadline to apply is midday on 5 December 2022.

How To Apply

The deadline to apply is 5 December 2022 (midday). Decisions are expected by the end of February 2023.

Guidelines and an online application form can be found on the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust website.
