Open 4 Business Portal

Hydrogen Storage and Distribution Supply Chain - New IUK R&D Competition Announced

UK businesses can lead on applications for grants to fund collaborative research and development projects related to hydrogen storage and distribution supply chain.

Forming part of the Future Economy Net Zero Programme, this Innovate UK (IUK) competition will focus on the development of the hydrogen economy. The aim is to develop new ways of delivering integrated hydrogen storage and distribution systems and the associated supply chains.

Proposals must:

  • Innovate in the storage or distribution part of the hydrogen value chain.
  • Integrate with at least one other part of the hydrogen value chain.
  • Develop the supply chains for hydrogen storage and distribution.

Up to £4.35 million has been allocated to fund feasibility, industrial research, and experimental development projects. Each project’s total costs must be up to a maximum of £1 million.

This competition is open to collaborations only. UK registered business of any size must lead. They must be or involve at least one grant claiming micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME). To collaborate, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size, academic institution, charity, not-for-profit, public sector organisation, or research and technology organisation (RTO).

Applications will be accepted between 13 February 2023 and 26 April 2023 (11:00 BST).
