Mindset Extended Reality (XR) for Digital Mental Health - Competitions Launched by IUK

UK registered businesses and collaborative partners can apply for grants for R&D projects that provide digital mental health therapeutic solutions.

The aim of this Innovate UK (IUK) competition is to develop digital therapeutic Extended Reality (XR) solutions to provide mental health care services through the application of immersive technologies. These solutions may be applied and trialled following a two year R&D cycle. They must have the potential to be adopted at scale to form part of the UK’s formal mental healthcare ecosystem.

XR covers Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR), haptics, interfaces, platforms and software. These are often referred to as immersive technologies.

Up to £4 million has been allocated to fund innovation projects. Funding will be in the form of a grant. For Strand 1, project costs must be between £50,000 and £100,000. For Strand 2, project costs must be between £100,000 and £250,000.

Single applicants and collaborations may apply. To lead a project an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size. To collaborate with the lead, the organisation must a UK registered business of any size, academic institution, charity, not for profit, public sector organisation or research and technology organisation (RTO).

The deadline for applications is 12 October 2022.
