Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Business can also search for funding relevant to their size and sector. To use the portal, you will first need to register with Open4Business.

New Cash Grants for UK Start-ups and Growing Businesses

Grants are available to help start-ups and early-stage founders across the UK to take the next steps on their business journey.

‘Realising the Remarkable’ is a new cash grant programme which has been created to help entrepreneurs start or grow their businesses, and reach their full potential.

Through the programme, small firms from will win a cash prize, alongside marketing and design support and expertise, to help their business thrive.

The fund will distribute £150,000. Twenty small businesses will each receive £7,500, as well as:

  • A free subscription for 12 months to VistaCreate Pro, Vista's graphic design software.
  • £500 to spend on VistaPrint UK site.
  • Access to 99designs by Vista silver logo and brand guide package.

To qualify, registered businesses must be based in the UK with a UK business bank account, trading for at least three months. Applicants can be self-employed or have a workforce of no more than 10 employees.

The deadline for applications is 26 February 2023 (23:59 GMT).

Applications are made online.

Forty applicants will be shortlisted and if selected, they will be contacted by email by 16 March 2023 to submit a two-minute pitch video explaining how they will use the grant.
