New Round of NHS Grants to Promote Organ, Cell and Blood Donation in the UK

Support Funding

Funding for projects which increase awareness and support for donation in Black, Asian, mixed race and minority ethnic groups.

The Community Investment Scheme forms part of NHS Blood and Transplant’s commitment to engage Black, Asian, mixed race and minority ethnic communities by addressing misinformation and barriers and sharing information around donation and transplant.

UK community and faith/beliefs organisations can apply for the following levels of funding, depending on their size and experience:

  • Grants of up to £2,499.
  • Grants of between £2,500 and £10,000.
  • Grants of between £10,001 and £20,000.
  • Grants of £20,000, set amount.

Organisations applying for larger grants of over £10,000 must have previous experience of working with a governmental department or a public body. Applicants should also be able to provide evidence of the impact achieved through these partnerships.

For this round, the scheme is seeking applications across the following areas of activity:

  • Projects engaging Black, Asian, mixed heritage and minority ethnic communities in deceased organ donation (total funding pot of £250,000).
  • Projects engaging Black African and/or Black Caribbean communities in blood donation (total funding pot of £150,000).
  • Projects covering a combination of blood donation and deceased organ donation (funded using a combination of the above funding pots).
  • Community Engagement Leads initiative: focused on stem cell donation, in partnership with Anthony Nolan. Funding strategic location-based partners to lead on engaging local networks in the Pakistani community (total funding pot of £40,000).

The grant application deadline is 9 January 2022 (5pm).
