Sport England Offering Grants for Flood-Damaged Facilities

Sports, Leisure and Tourism

24 January 2023/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The Small Grants fund has broadened its criteria to include flood support.

Sport England has temporarily updated its Small Grants guidance to enable funding for organisations affected by recent flooding.

The funding will be directed at areas most affected, so groups in areas covered by the following Active Partnerships are eligible:

  • Energize
  • Active Black Country
  • Birmingham Sport
  • Herefordshire & Worcester
  • Active Gloucestershire
  • Wesport
  • Active Dorset

Applicants will need to submit evidence of damage which is directly attributable to the recent flooding (January 2023) and that the damage cannot be covered by their insurance policy.

Grants can cover emergency costs to help restore sports facilities and will support minor works. Examples include:

  • Skip hire to remove sediment and rubbish.
  • Minor electrical works to restore power.
  • Decontamination works or clearing of blocked drains.
  • Cleaning work to get showers and changing rooms back up and running.
  • Securing buildings.

Additionally, priority will be given to sports that need to return quickly. Spring and summer sports, or where activity is not scheduled to take place for several weeks, are a lower priority.

The Fund makes grants of £300 to £15,000 to constituted not-for-profit organisations across England.

Flood Relief funding is available for a limited time only.

How To Apply

The deadline to apply is 30 June 2023.

Guidance notes and the online application form are available on the Sport England website.
