Transport Improvements Study The Council has, in partnership with Cumbria County Council (who are the Highways Authority for the district), produced a study into the capacity of the City's transport networks, particularly on its roads and at key highway junctions.
The Study itself comes in two parts, both are available for download below. The Transport Study Progress Report assesses the likely traffic impacts of the emerging Local Plan (2015-2030), identifying 'pinch-points' on the network that may struggle to handle an increase in traffic from new development. The second document, the Transport Improvement Study, then looks at ways of dealing with these impacts from highway and junction improvements where appropriate.
