Launch of £75m Fund to Accelerate Nuclear Fuel Supply

Grants are available to support the UK’s nuclear fuel supply chain to develop the capabilities needed to meet current and future fuel demand in the UK and globally.

The Nuclear Fuel Fund aims to preserve the UK front-end nuclear fuel cycle capability, supporting support the Government’s ambition to increase civil nuclear deployment to up to 24GW by 2050.

The deadline for applications is 20 February 2023 (12:00 GMT).

New £3m Platinum Jubilee Village Halls Fund Accepting Applications With First Deadline of 20 January

Capital grants are available for village halls in rural areas across England to enhance, upgrade, extend, improve, and construct halls so that, as a result, new activities can take place bringing communities together.

Launched just before Christmas, the new £3 million Platinum Jubilee Village Halls Fund is provided by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) and administered by the charity Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE).

The deadline for the first round of Stage 1 applications is midnight 20 January 2023.

Sport England Reopens Small Grants Programme

The Sport England Small Grants Programme aims to support local community sport projects that encourage people in England, regardless of age, background or level of ability, to feel able to get involved in sport and physical activity.

2023 Deadlines for FCC Community Action Fund

Funding for not-for-profit groups to provide, maintain or improve public amenities within a 10-mile radius of eligible FCC Environment waste facilities in England.

The FCC Community Action Fund provides grants to organisations under Object D of the Landfill Communities Fund (LFC) to benefit local communities in the vicinity of a landfill site. There will be four application windows in 2023.

The next deadline to apply is 8 March 2023.

New Round of IUK’s Biomedical Catalyst Industry-led R&D Competition

Launch of Grants to Support End of Life Care for Prisoners

As part of its partnership with Linder Foundation, Hospice UK is delivering a new programme which aims to expand hospice care for prisoners and improve understanding of the unique needs that imprisoned people will have at the end of life.

New Grants for Digital Projects to Tackle Problems in Vocational Learning

Grants are available for UK organisations across all sectors to fund new ideas for digital approaches to tackling vocational learning problems.

The VocTech Activate scheme has been launched to support the development of new ideas that use digital tools and approaches to transform how people in the UK gain skills for work. The scheme is described as a ‘test bed’ where the first spark of an idea which could solve a vocational learning problem can be scoped and tested in a supportive environment.

The fund will open for stage 1 applications on 11 January 2023. The deadline to apply is 8 February 2023 (17:00 GMT).

BME Youth Together Fund Accepting Applications

Funding to engage vulnerable groups in physical activity and strengthen communities across the country.

Formerly known as the Tackling Inequalities Fund, The Together Fund is a Sport England initiative which supports non-profit community organisations to recover and emerge from the long-term impacts of COVID-19.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until 31 March 2023.

Pre-Announcement of ERA-NET Cofund in Quantum Technologies (QuantERA II) Call 2023

The call is scheduled to open at the end of January 2023 will focus on applied quantum science and quantum phenomena and resources.

QuantERA II is a European Research Area network focused on quantum technologies (QT). It supports multilateral research projects with the potential to initiate or foster new lines of QT through collaborations exploring advanced multidisciplinary science and/or cutting-edge engineering.

The deadline for the QuantERA Call 2023 will be 11 May 2023 (17:00 CET).

Upcoming IUK Competitions Focus on Novel Low-emission Food Production Systems

Better Food for All - IUK Announces Innovation for Improved Nutrition Competitions

Community Action Fund Now Open to Applications

The Civic Power Fund is the first donor fund dedicated to community organising, which aims to provide targeted long-term funding across the UK.

Masonic Charitable Foundation Offering New Grants Programme

As part of its partnership with Hospice UK, the Masonic Charitable Foundation has launched a new fund that seeks to ensure that marginalised individuals and those experiencing poverty have equitable access quality care at the end of life.

Launch of Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) R&D Phase B Competition

Grants are available for qualifying businesses to support the development of High Temperature Gas Reactor technologies in the UK.

Through the Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) R&D Competition, the Government is providing innovation funding to support the development and demonstration of High Temperature Gas Reactor (HTGR) technology in the UK. The programme aims to demonstrate HTGR technology by the early 2030s, in time for any potential commercial AMRs to support net zero by 2050.

Interested parties should register their interest to apply by 27 January 2023 (14:00 GMT). Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 5 March 2023 (14:00 GMT).

New Funding for Agriculture and Horticulture Automation from IUK

£12.5 million has been set aside for projects focused on cutting-edge agriculture and horticulture innovation to create more sustainable farming practices.

The aim of this Defra-funded programme is to support collaborative development projects with ambitious solutions for robotics and automation in agriculture and horticulture.

New Grants from Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust

The Grassroots Movement Fund is a pilot programme which will see £1 million awarded to small third sector organisations throughout 2023 to support the sustainability of grassroots social justice work.

UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) is part of the Government’s Levelling Up agenda. It provides £2.6 billion of new funding for local investment by March 2025. All areas of the UK will receive an allocation from the Fund. The fund replaces the current EU structural funds, which will have finished by the end of 2023.

The primary goal of the UKSPF is to help build pride in place and to help to increase life chances across the UK.

The closing date for submission of applications is Wednesday 21 December 2022 at 5pm.

Accelerating Trustworthy AI: IUK Launches Phase 1 Feasibility Study Competition

Launch of £100m Offshore Coordination Support Scheme

Launch of New Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG)

The Transport Research and Innovation Grant (TRIG) supports future leaders in transport innovation by awarding 100% funding for the development of new technology. The programme also provides a collaborative space for innovators to work with the Department for Transport (DfT) on realising shared goals.

Defra Invites Final Bids for Fisheries Industry Science Partnerships Scheme

IUK Launches Sustainable Bio-based Materials and Manufacture Feasibility Study Competition

The Get Fishing Fund has been established to support organisations delivering a programme of angling activities throughout 2023. As a means of encouraging the wellbeing benefits the sport can offer, supported activities should aim to help get more people into fishing and retain them within the sport.

New Round of Community Grants from NHS Blood and Transplant

UK Community Foundations Receive Funding Boost for Ukrainian Refugees

Following a £500,000 donation from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, Community Foundations across the UK will be able to provide additional funding to charitable groups supporting Ukrainian Refugees in their local areas. In total, this will bring the amount given by the Freemasons towards assistance for Ukrainians to over £1 million since the onset of the Russian invasion.
