Open 4 Business Portal

Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Business can also search for funding relevant to their size and sector. To use the portal, you will first need to register with Open4Business.

The Weston Communicating Climate Programme is Now Live for a Second Year and Applications are Open

Media Trust’s Weston Communicating Climate Programme supports UK environmental and climate charities to extend the reach, power and impact of their communications. The programme gives charities free access to expert-led training, networking opportunities, resources, and one-to-one sessions with media industry professionals to empower them to influence the media discourse and public sentiment on climate change.

The deadline for application is Tuesday 15 February.

Grants are available to black-led organisations across the UK to deliver bold and impactful visual arts projects.

An Expression of Interest must be submitted by the deadline of 4 March 2022.

National Emergencies Trust (with Crowdfunding) – Local Action Fund

Grants are available for not-for-profit groups and organisations in the UK who can raise their initial funding through a crowdfunding campaign to help them get back on their feet after the challenges of the pandemic.

The first step is for applicants to set up a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdfunder. Campaigns typically run for 28 days but take a few weeks to create so groups should allow about six weeks in total.

Grants are available to community groups in the UK to a make playing football more accessible at the grassroots level, and in particular encourage girls and young people from lower socio-economic and under-represented groups, including culturally diverse communities, young people with disabilities, and young people from the LGBTQ+ community to take part.

There are no deadlines. Applications can be made at any time from January 2022 to December 2024.

Businesses operating in some of the most polluting and energy-intensive industries can now bid for a share of government investment to help cut their carbon emissions and the costs of their energy bills.

The Phase 2 Spring 2022 competition window is now open. The deadline for applications is Friday 29 April 2022 (15:00 GMT).

Money Saving Expert (MSE) Charity Opens for First Round of 2022

MSE Charity is currently accepting UK applications to its ‘Living with Long Term Challenges’ theme and will close as soon as 40 applications are accepted so groups should not wait to apply.

Applications will be accepted from 9am on 1 February 2022 until 5pm on 25 February 2022.

Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust Announces New £1m Pilot Fund

Following a 10-month consultation, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust has released the first details of a new pilot fund aimed at grassroots movements seeking to create lasting change and transform intersecting structural inequalities within society.

The fund is expected to launch in 2022, with the potential for another two rounds after initial evaluation.

Geovation Launches Diffuse Coastal Pollution Challenge

Geovation, Ordnance Survey’s open innovation network hub, has launched a challenge with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) to find a sustainable solution to tackle diffuse coastal pollution.

Further Education Initial Teacher Education Bursaries Fund Opens to Applications

Funding available to help further education (FE) providers attract high-quality individuals into the teaching profession in the FE sector in certain defined subject areas.

FE providers can make applications for trainees at any time, either on a case-by-case basis or in batches, ahead of a course starting, by emailing a completed application form to the DfE.

£100,000 of Funding Available for Communities’ Climate Resolutions in 2022

The first round of applications for grants up to £10,000 are now open for Cumbrian community groups. Environmental charity Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) recently launched a National Lottery-supported grant funding stream to enable grassroots community groups to take action to tackle climate change. 

Applications for amounts of up to £2,000 can be considered at any time, but those groups seeking larger amounts of up to £10,000, in the first round, must apply by Monday 28th February.

Innovate UK Opens New Round of Smart Grants

Fund to Improve Adult Learning through Technology - New Applications Invited

There will be two VocTech Seed calls in 2022. The first call is now open with a deadline for applications of 9 February 2022 (17:00 GMT).

Grants for Technologies Producing Hydrogen from Biomass Now Available

The Government has launched a programme to help develop innovative technologies to produce hydrogen, a clean energy source, from sustainable biomass and waste. The Hydrogen BECCS Innovation Programme will support hydrogen production via bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS).

The deadline to register for the programme is 4 March 2022 (12:00 GMT).

BBC Children in Need Pauses Main and Small Grants Programmes

The two programmes are under review and temporarily closed to new applicants.

Owing to the development of a new strategy for grant making, the Children in Need Main and Small Grants programmes are now paused until September 2022.

Further details will be released from Spring 2022.

Sport England - Queen's Platinum Jubilee Activity Fund

Grants are available to local not-for-profit groups across England in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee for projects which bring communities together and provide opportunities for people who may be less physically active.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Decisions usually take around three weeks, but may take longer during periods of high interest.
