The Fund is focused on supporting the development of new or refurbished local football facilities, improving the experience of playing the national game at the lowest levels, and helping to increase participation in football across the country. It is open to applications from football clubs, schools, councils and local sports associations and supports projects that will:
Improve facilities for football and other sport in local communities.
Sustain or increase participation amongst children and adults, regardless of background age, or ability.
Help children and adults to develop their physical, mental, social and moral capacities through regular participation in sport.
Grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 are available.
Applicants must demonstrate a financial need for grant aid and are expected to contribute their own funds to the project as well as have secured financial contributions from other funding organisations.
Applicants are expected to secure as much match funding as possible and be able to demonstrate that all available options for match funding have been exhausted; however, each project will be assessed based on individual circumstances.
Eligible applicants are:
Professional clubs' community trusts.
All educational establishments.
Registered charitable organisations.
Not-for-profit companies limited by guarantee.
Industrial and provident societies.
Unincorporated not-for-profit organisations.
All applicants must have security of tenure at the applicable venue either by freehold or leasehold. A minimum of 25 years security of tenure is required by leasehold.

Retrospective costs are not eligible.
Funding is available for projects that:
Sustain or increase participation among children and adults, regardless of background age, or ability.
The types of facilities that will receive funding include:
Grass pitches drainage and improvements.
Pavilions, clubhouses and changing rooms.
3G Football Turf Pitches (FTPs) and multi-use games areas.
Fixed floodlights for artificial pitches.
Priority will be given to the following:
Projects that are located within areas of high deprivation (as defined by the Government's Indices of Deprivation) or that can demonstrate they draw a significant proportion of their participants from neighbouring deprived areas, for applications involving professional club community programmes.
Schemes that are a joint application between professional club community schemes and grassroots football.
Projects supporting 3G Football Turf Pitches (FTPs).
Applications may be submitted at any time.
