Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Background

Legal & General, a multinational financial services company, is providing and administering the Coronavirus Emergency Fund.

Objectives of Fund

The funding is intended for small charitable organisations that support elderly and vulnerable people or provide mental health support for people affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Value Notes

Grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 are available.

A total of £500,000 will be awarded in grants.

Who Can Apply

Charitable organisations who generate under £1.5 million of income can apply.

Organisations can only apply for funding once.

Restrictions

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Individuals, or groups of individuals who have come together recently to provide informal support services to their communities.

  • Making grants or financial donations to other organisations or to individuals.

  • Organisations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, colour, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or another unlawful basis.

  • Religious charities whose activities only promote the furtherance of their religion or only benefit their own religious members.

  • Political parties or campaigns.

Eligible Expenditure

The following initiatives are eligible for funding:

  • Helping elderly or vulnerable people or people with chronic underlying health conditions or diseases in self-isolation or quarantine who need access to food, medicines or social care.

  • Offering counselling, suicide prevention and mental health support for those who are affected by the coronavirus crisis (who have, for example, lost their jobs, are grieving or are in crisis).

The grants are intended as emergency funding to enable activities to continue at the moment in whatever way is needed; they are not designed to replace other lost income in the longer term.

How To Apply

Applications can be submitted until 20 April 2020.

Organisations will receive a funding decision within ten days.
