Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Heritage Emergency Fund: apply for re-opening costs; deadline extended

Apply for costs to help your organisation re-open and recover

We have expanded our £50million Heritage Emergency Fund criteria to help heritage organisations safely reopen in line with Government guidelines.

Are you eligible to apply?

We are now accepting applications for –

Costs associated with safely re-opening in line with Government guidelines

This could include:

  • additional staff to help manage queues or additional cleaning

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for staff and volunteers

  • implementing contactless payment methods

  • erecting temporary structures to help manage visitors such as shelter for queues or additional toilets

Please be aware that Government guidelines on how and when to reopen may vary across the UK.

Costs essential to preparing for recovery

This could include:

  • strategic reviews of business models, operating plans and business plans

  • investment to enable digital delivery of services

The deadline to apply has also been extended to 12noon on Friday 31 July.

We have already received more than 450 applications for support from heritage organisations across the UK since the Heritage Emergency Fund launched in April. We'd like to support many more.
