Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Grants are available for equine welfare and rescue organisations in the UK which have experienced financial and operational challenges as a result of the coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis.

The COVID-19 Equine Rescues Emergency Fund has been set up by the Petplan Charitable Trust (PPCT), World Horse Welfare, and the National Equine Welfare Council (NEWC). The Fund is administered by PPCT.

Objectives of Fund

The purpose of the Fund is to help smaller equine welfare organisations across the UK whose finances and operations have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis.

Value Notes

Grants of up to £5,000 are available. The average grant is expected to be around £2,500 - £3,000.

Who Can Apply

Applications will be considered from smaller equine rescue organisations (with less than £500,000 turnover). Only registered charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply.

Applicants do not need to be NEWC members, but rescue and rehoming of equines should be the primary focus of the organisation.

If more applications are received than funds available, priority will be given to:

  • Organisations who do not have more than three months expenditure in hand.

  • Organisations that have not received emergency funding from other emergency funds.

  • Organisations who are NEWC members.

Grants are intended to help equine rescue organisations to cover activities which have been directly affected by the ongoing coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis.

How To Apply

Applications should be made online, using the application form on the PPCT website.

There are three rounds of applications. The deadline for round one has now passed. The deadlines for the next two rounds are as follows:

  • Round 2: 24 July 2020 (successful applicants will be notified by 31 July 2020, with payments made by 7 August 2020)

  • Round 3: 16 October 2020 (successful applicants will be notified by 23 October 2020, with payments made by 30 October 2020).
