Kick-starting Tourism Package

| Return|

Funding is available for small businesses in England’s tourist destinations to help them recover from a dramatic loss of business caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdown.

Fund Information

Funding body:

Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG)

Maximum value:

£ 5,000

Application deadline:

None specified

Background

This programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014 to 2020. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is the managing authority.

Objectives of Fund

England’s tourism destinations have experienced a significant fall in visitor numbers in recent months, following the coronavirus pandemic. In response, the Government’s new Kick-starting Tourism Package is providing emergency funding to help businesses adapt, ensuring that tourist hot-spots are firmly open for business this summer.

Funding will be allocated to each Local Growth Hub in England, based on how much of their employment base is linked to tourism and hospitality businesses. This means that coastal and rural areas – with a bigger proportion of their economy focused on tourism, hospitality and allied sectors – will get a larger share of the funds.

Value Notes

The programme has an overall budget of £10 million.

Small grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 will be offered to help businesses access specialist professional advice, eg human resources, accountants, legal, financial, IT / digital. The money can also be used for purchasing minor equipment to adapt or adopt new technology in order to continue delivering business activities or to diversify.

Match Funding Restrictions

100% of the money will come from government with no obligation for businesses to contribute financially.
