New One-off Funding for UK Charities Dealing with Income Loss Due to COVID-19

| Return|

The one-off £10 million Charity Survival Fund has been set up by the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust in response to their ongoing concern about the economic impact of coronavirus/COVID-19 on the nation’s charities.

The grant funding aims to help small and medium-sized UK registered charities who are struggling with a loss of income in the current financial year due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications will be accepted from UK registered charities with a beneficial area within the UK and an income of less than £5 million.

Priority will be given to charities that deliver frontline services and activities in the areas prioritised by the Trust: health and wellbeing, welfare and education, arts and culture.

The funding is intended to support core costs of the charity in its usual work (though this may include revised ways of working due to coronavirus/COVID-19 and learnings during lockdown), ie, it should not be for expansionary work or new projects. This may include salary costs of core staff being brought back from furlough (not project-related posts).

Grants of between £1,000 and £250,000 are available. It is expected that around 200 charities across the country will be funded.

The level of funding depends on the charity’s annual income:

  • Grants of up to £5,000 - annual income up to £20,000

  • Grants of up to £10,000 - annual income £20,001 and £100,000

  • Grants of up to £50,000 - annual income £100,001 and £250,000

  • Grants of up to £100,000 - annual income £250,001 and £500,000

  • Grants of up to £250,000 - annual income £500,001 and £ 5million.

The funding must be used by the end of April 2021.
