Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Background

the7stars foundation was established by the7stars, to support challenged and vulnerable young people in the United Kingdom.

Objectives of Fund

The foundation makes grants to projects which support young people who are challenged by abuse or addiction, who are young carers, or who do not have a safe place to call home.

The foundation offer three streams of funding:

  • Project applications for 16 year olds and under

  • Long term applications for 16 year olds and under

  • Direct funding for 18 year olds and under

Value Notes

Funding is offered in three streams:

  • Project applications (for 16 year olds and under) – project grants are awarded up to £5,000.

  • Long term applications (for 16 year olds and under) – unrestricted grant funding is awarded on a two-year commitment, up to £20,000 per year.

  • Direct funding (for 18 year olds and under) – grants of between £100 and £1,000 are available.

Who Can Apply

Applications will be considered from groups, organisations or individuals who require funding in the areas of:

  • Abuse

  • Addiction

  • Child carers

  • Safe homes

The criteria for each of the three funding streams is as follows:

  • Project applications - organisations with a turnover of under £1.5 million, who are supporting young people aged 16 years and under may apply.

  • Long term applications - organisations with a turnover of under £500,000, who are supporting young people aged 16 years and under (or 18 years and under at trustee discretion) may apply.

  • Direct funding – social, outreach, or support workers may apply for funding on behalf of a young person aged 18 years and under.

The grant funding is intended to support young people challenged by abuse and addiction, those who are young carers, and those who find themselves without a safe home.

Criteria for each of the three funding streams is as follows:

Project applications

Funding is intended to cover the costs of projects which:

  • Are aligned to the value of potential, opportunity, fairness and impact, enabling young people to have a positive start in life and aim high.

  • Have a direct impact and respond to need in an immediate manner.

  • Are hosted in geographical areas of deprivation and socioeconomic disadvantage.

  • Respond to the funding priorities of the7starts foundation.

  • Address a lack of provision (due to a lack of funding from alternative sources).

  • Provide immediate support, not just in the short-term but with long-term benefits too.

Long term applications

Funding is intended to enable organisations to build capacity, achieve sustainability, increase their reach, and develop their vision. Grants are available to cover the long-term running costs of organisations which:

  • Collaborate for meaningful engagement within the wider 7starts agency.

  • Are aligned to values of potential, opportunity, fairness and impact, enabling young people to have a positive start in life and aim high.

  • Have a direct impact and respond to need in an immediate manner.

  • Respond to the funding priorities of the7stars foundation in an innovate manner, responding to lack of provision.

  • Are challenged by a lack of funding or sustainability.

Direct funding

Direct grants are intended for young people themselves, to help them overcome or heal from abuse or addiction, or to support those who are in transition or without a place to call home.

How To Apply

Applications are open and can be submitted at any time.

Applicants should send a short proposal detailing their funding request, via email, to the Foundation Director.
