United Kingdom

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Individuals.

  • Charities who have received a grant within the last three years.

  • General mailshots for funding.

Eligible Expenditure

Grants are usually made for capital projects and the Trust does not normally support general running costs (e.g. salaries). However, in response to the ongoing coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust have relaxed their usual restrictions and are prepared to consider applications supporting ongoing charity costs.

The following criteria apply:

  • Charities are expected to clearly demonstrate the need for funding towards running costs such as feed or salaries.

  • Charities should demonstrate what they have done to mitigate the impact of coronavirus/COVID-19 on their income and expenditure.

Elderly grants are intended for charities or hospice who support older people. Applications are expected to clearly demonstrate defined benefits to older people who are frail.

Equine grants are intended to prevent cruelty to equines and relieve any suffering and stress to such animals. Applications must outline the number of equines the charity currently has, the number taken in during the last twelve months, and the number rehomed during the same period.

How To Apply

Applications can be submitted at any time.

Trustees generally meet twice a year, in the spring and in the autumn, to review applications, so applicants are advised that it may take up to six months to obtain a decision from Trustees.

The deadline for consideration at the next meeting is 31 August 2020.

Applications must be submitted by email. Application forms and guidance notes are available to download from the Trust’s website.
