Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

New Funding to Reduce Social Isolation in Armed Forces Communities

Fixed grants of £70,000 are available for projects lasting for two years.

The funding is for projects that tackle loneliness within specific groups of the Armed Forces community who traditionally do not engage with available provision.

Projects need to fit at least one of the following themes:

  • Building stronger social networks and friendships.

  • Improving access to local activities and provision.

  • Building emotional resilience to overcome the causes of loneliness.

  • Empowering Armed Forces communities to become more independent.

Projects could include bereaved families, dual serving families, Foreign and Commonwealth families including Gurkhas, single serving parents, carers of veterans as well as veterans of any age, and serving families with young children, or who are new to Service life or who have family members with SEND.

Projects that specifically work with any of the following will also be welcomed:

  • LGBTQ+ Armed Forces community members.

  • Those who have suffered relationship breakdown.

  • Serving families, veterans and veteran families that live in rural or remote locations.

  • Transitioning personnel and families (including any children).

Applications will be considered from established registered charities, community interest companies and Armed Forces units. Applicants should demonstrate that they have thought about the implications of the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic and taken this into account when designing and planning their project.

There will be one application round in 2020.

The deadline for applications is noon on 9 October 2020.
