Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Road Safety Trust Small Grants Programme opens on 15 September 2020

Grants are available to public and professional UK-based organisations for activities that will reduce the risk of death and injury for all road users.

Small Grants Programme

The main aim of the Small Grants Programme is to improve road safety at a local level.

The funding is for supporting measurable interventions that link to local priorities and show a proposed link to reducing casualties either directly or through clear interim measures.

Eligible projects are:

  • Pilots/trial.

  • Expanding successful trials across a new area.

  • Evaluation of interventions.

Projects should have the potential for being brought to scale, with the ultimate goal of reducing deaths and injuries both locally and across the UK.

  • Small grants programme: grants of between £10,000 to £30,000 over a two-year period.

Match Funding Restrictions

Applications for 100% funding will not be supported. Applicants are required to provide some of the costs of their project from other sources.

Who Can Apply

Applications are accepted from both public and professional UK organisations including:

  • Local Authorities.

  • Police Forces.

  • Fire and Rescue Services.

  • UK-based registered charities.

  • Not-for-profit social enterprises..

  • Community Interest Companies.

  • University departments.

How To Apply

The new Small Grants Plus Programme 2020 opens on 15 September 2020.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak the Major Themed Grants Programme that opened in February 2020 was suspended in April 2020 until further notice.

Applications are made via the Road Safety Trust’s online application portal, which can be accessed from the Trust’s website. Applicants will be required to create an account and complete a short eligibility questionnaire before gaining access to the application form.
