Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

This programme offers businesses in Cumbria support towards the cost of a consultancy project. This support is delivered by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce.

This programme is provided by Cumbria Business Growth Hub. The subsidy is part of the ERDF Growth Hub project which is receiving funding from the England European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

Objectives of Fund

This programme offers businesses in Cumbria support towards the cost of a consultancy project. This support is delivered by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce.

Value Notes

Businesses that are looking to grow their operations can access a 40% subsidy of between £1,000 and £1,300 towards:

  • Marketing advice

  • Web development

  • Accountancy & Finance

  • Social Media

  • Legal Advice

  • PR

  • Gaining accreditations, such as ISO and SALSA

Coronavirus (COVID-19) UPDATE: This scheme has been extended to cover purchases of equipment to produce PPE during the Coronavirus crisis. For more information email [email protected]

Match Funding Restrictions

Applicants must fund the remaining 60% of costs.

Who Can Apply

ERDF eligible small and medium-sized businesses based in Cumbria, with up to 250 full time equivalent employees and an annual turnover of less than £40 million, may apply.

Applicants cannot have received/be receiving more than €200,000 of De Minimis support in the last three years, including the value of any support accessed under this initiative.
