Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Background

The W.A. Handley Charity Trust gives grants in response to applications from charities within Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Co Durham (including Hartlepool) and Cumbria (including Carlisle). Occasionally, grants will be awarded to national charities whose work will benefit these areas.

Objectives of Fund

Grants will commonly be in response to appeals in support of welfare for those who are disadvantaged, young, elderly, disabled, as well as maritime and Service causes, education, training and employment opportunities, community benefit, historic and religious buildings, the environment, music and the arts.

Value Notes

Funding is at the discretion of the Trustees. As a guide, grants given out in the past have ranged from £1,000 to £10,000 although larger grants can also be made.

Most grants awarded are for £5,000 or less.

Match funding is not a specified requirement.
