The Local Government Association's (LGAs) Behavioural Insights Programme has been used across public services to generate low cost interventions to improve policy outcomes. The approach is based on the idea that interventions aimed at encouraging people to make better choices for themselves and society will be more successful if they are based on insights from behavioural science.
As behavioural insights continue to be applied to increasingly complex issues in local government, the LGA is looking to build an evidence base of what works and to that end is seeking to match fund up to eight projects focusing on managing demand into overstretched local services whilst living with COVID-19.
Local authorities (including all those not in membership of the LGA) are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to applications from organisations who have not worked in the area of behavioural insights before.
Grants of £20,000 each are available for up to eight projects.
The deadline for applications is 29 October 2020 (5pm).
Local authorities should submit applications online.
