Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Background

This programme is provided by Awesome Merchandise to celebrate its 15th birthday.

Objectives of Fund

Grants are available help support small UK businesses and creative practitioners. The £15,000 scheme will be split evenly across the music and performing arts industries and small businesses.

The scheme has been devised to not only support independent businesses and venues in need during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but to also offer expertise through a year-long mentoring programme.

Value Notes

The provider is offering three support grants totalling £15,000. It will work alongside the three grant recipients. As well as the grant, the successful applicant will receive regular training and practical advice from Awesome Merchandise, to help grow their business - through use of marketing, and creating promotional merchandise.

The £15,000 will be split evenly across the three sectors:

  • 5K Music Grant
    For those working in the music industry, eg venues, artists, managers and labels.

  • 5K Business Grant
    For a business looking to boost its expertise in merchandising, eg shops, restaurants, bars, breweries, galleries and cafes.

  • 5K Creative Grant
    For artists, illustrators, designers, clothing companies and crafters.

A sample breakdown of the £5,000 grant will be:

  • £1,000 – DIGITAL PRINT (Prints / Posters / Stationery)

  • £1,000 – GARMENTS (Tees / Headwear / Face Masks)

  • £1,000 – MERCH (Pins / Patches / Badges / Banners)

  • £1,000 – EXPERIMENTAL (New Products / Giveaways)

  • £1,000 – MARKETING (Ads / Strategy / Consultation / Collabs / Competitions / Events)

How To Apply

The scheme opens on 19 October 2020. Applications close on Monday 2 November 2020.

Applicants will need to fill out a form and provide supplemental material if it will support the application.
