Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

National Lottery Funding can help you to make a difference in your community. National Lottery Awards for All offers funding from £300 to £10,000 to support what matters to people and communities.

Eligible Expenditure

The programme will fund projects/activities that meet one or more of the following priorities:

  • Bringing people together and build strong relationships in and across communities.

  • Improving the places and spaces that matter to communities.

  • Enabling more people to fulfil their potential by working to address issues at the earliest possible stage.

Communities should be involved in the design, development and delivery of projects.

Examples of eligible costs include:

  • Training costs.

  • Volunteer expenses.

  • Staff costs.

  • Small capital projects.

  • Transport.

  • One-off events.

  • Equipment.

  • Utilities/running costs.

This is not an exhaustive list. Applicants are advised to contact the Big Lottery Fund with any queries about their project's eligibility.

How To Apply

Applications may be submitted at any time. 

Applications should be made online via the National Lottery Awards for All England page of the Big Lottery Fund website.

Applicants are advised to submit their applications at least 12 weeks before the start of their project to allow time for the assessment process.

The Big Lottery Fund aims to let applicants know the results of its decision within about 14 weeks of application.
