Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Vegetarian for Life Grants to assist Independent Living

Objectives of Fund

Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is a registered charity set up to support and enhance quality of life for older vegetarians and vegans and is funded by the Vegetarian Housing Association.

The charity administers two funds:

  • The Vegetarian Fund.

  • The Vegan Fund.

Value Notes

Individual grants are normally subject to an upper limit of £3,000, but this may vary if the grant would benefit more than one eligible person or, at the Trustees’ discretion, if there are other extenuating circumstances.

Who Can Apply

Charities and charitable organisations can apply on behalf of people who are:

  • Practising vegetarians and vegans.

  • Over 60 years of age.

  • In financial need.

Restrictions

Ongoing support will not be provided.

Eligible Expenditure

Grants are normally made to assist 'independent living', for example: to provide ramps, grab handles, minor kitchen/bathroom adaptations, stair lifts, mobility scooter or perhaps respite care (a short stay in a care home for a person being cared for at home, to provide a break for the carer).

Applications for other uses will be considered as long as the grant will benefit one or more older vegetarians or vegans.
