Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

A competition for UK start-ups, providing the winner with a fully funded TV advertising campaign, igniting rapid business growth via the game-changing medium of TV.

The TV Star Competition is provided by All Response Media Limited (ARM). The competition partners are and Sky Media.

Objectives of Fund

The TV Star Competition is aimed at supporting new UK start-ups. It provides the winner with a fully funded TV ad campaign, igniting rapid business growth via the game-changing medium.

Past success stories include, minicabit, Wonderbly (formerly known as Lost My Name), Everything5Pounds and Best of the Best, who all joined All Response Media to drive their businesses via the game-changing medium of TV.

Value Notes

The winner will receive a fully funded TV advertising campaign (creative and media) to a total value of £50,000, plus the opportunity to:

  • draw upon the funder’s experience and skill in customer acquisition TV advertising and other relevant media channels;

  • access to ‘TV to web-visits’ attribution measurement and analysis platform, ARMalytics;

  • experience an accelerated journey in advertising with reduced barriers to entry;

  • become the UK’s next start-up success story with the architects of rapid growth.

Selected entrants will be invited to complete a detailed questionnaire on their business proposition and readiness for TV advertising and rapid growth.

These responses will be assessed in detail, from which the finalists will be selected and invited to partake in a Dragons’ Den style pitch in front of a judging panel, which consists of industry leaders and All Response Media directors.

Who Can Apply

To enter the TV Star Competition, the applicant must be:

  • a start-up business which was incorporated fewer than six years before the date of entry; or

  • a business which was incorporated more than six years before the date of entry but which has never advertised its brand, products or services on television; or

  • an individual or business which does not fall into the above criteria but which ARM has granted express permission to enter the Competition.

The individual entering on behalf of the Entrant must be aged 18 years or over, UK resident, and authorised to act on behalf of the Entrant. Such individual should enter using their business email address and contact details unless permission to use other details is obtained from ARM.

How To Apply

The Competition opened on Wednesday 21 January 2019. All entries must be received by 11.59pm (UK time) on Friday 22 February 2019.

Within 14 calendar days after the Closing Date, entrants that have successfully reached the next round of the competition will be notified and asked to complete a questionnaire on their business proposition and readiness for TV. Based on the answers provided, the finalists will be chosen for the final pitch in front of a panel of judges (which will include at least one independent judge).
