Grants are available for schools, youth groups, not-for-profit organisations, and charities to provide access to recreational trips or holidays for groups of children aged 13 years and younger who experience disadvantage or disability and live in an area of high deprivation.
The Henry Smith Charity
The Henry Smith Charity is a grant making organisation which was established in 1628. The Charity's capital endowment now consists of a substantial portfolio of stock market investments, commercial property and agricultural property from which income for grants is derived
Objectives of Fund
The Charity aims to provide children aged 13 years or younger who are disadvantaged, disabled or from areas of high deprivation with a recreational holiday or outing they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
One-off grants of between £500 and £2,500 are available.
Funding is available for a maximum of two consecutive years.
Match Funding Restrictions
Match funding is required as grants are normally limited to a maximum of two-thirds of the total cost of the trip.
Who Can Apply
Schools, youth groups, not for profit organisations and charities in the UK are eligible to apply.
Priority will be given to the 20% most deprived areas in the UK. This means areas that fall within the bottom 20% according to the National Indices of Deprivation.
