Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

2019 Next Generation Awards for Young Entrepreneurs - Imminent Deadline

The Next Generation campaign supports young, aspiring entrepreneurs across the UK through a series of free entrepreneurial skills courses that will educate, inspire and motivate them to ‘Start Something’.

According to Enterprise Nation, this year will see more young people than ever considering following their entrepreneurial aspirations and starting their own business. The Next Generation Awards provide an opportunity for young people to pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges, with the chance of securing an investment.

The winning applicants will be awarded funding, coupled with other prizes to help support their business or business idea.


  • £2,500 cash investment

  • Free office space for 12 months with The Office Group

  • One-year free Enterprise Nation membership and business support for all 30 finalists, including the winners

  • Profile on the Enterprise Nation blog and social media

The awards are open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man who are aged 16 years or over, within three age categories; 16-18, 19-22 & 23-30. Applicants with businesses that are already trading must have been trading for no more than 12 months.

The deadline for applications to be submitted is 8 March 2019.
