Open 4 Business Portal

To support our businesses during the current COVID-19 crisis, and into the recovery phase, Carlisle City Council is providing free access to Open 4 Business. Open4Business is designed to support businesses locate relevant up to date funding opportunities.

The portal is updated regularly with new local, regional and national funding announcements and can be easily searched by businesses on the basis of their industry, region and business size. The portal then provides information on how to apply for funding and contact funders directly. To search for grants for your business you will first need to register on the Open4Business website

Cuthbert Horn Trust

The Cuthbert Horn Trust is an unincorporated charitable trust that was set up in 1983. The Trust has a small amount of money that it gives each year to other registered charities.

Objectives of Fund

The scheme is intended to support charitable organisations undertaking general charitable purposes. Previous grants have been for a range of activities such as conservation, education, environmental protection, help for disadvantaged children, music, research and transport.

Value Notes

This is a small trust with a small amount of funding to give away each year.

Although funding is at the discretion of the Trustees, grants tend to be for about £4,000.

Match Funding Restrictions

Match funding is not a specified requirement.

Who Can Apply

Voluntary and community organisations operating in the UK are eligible to apply.


Applicants are advised to contact the Trust to confirm that exclusions do not apply.

Eligible Expenditure

Costs associated with eligible projects.

How To Apply

The Trust does not have a website or a formal application form.

Applications should be made in writing with details of the project.

Applications are considered once per year at an annual Trustee meeting.
