Project based funding under themes improving biodiversity and green spaces, increase community access to outdoor space, or combat climate change and promote sustainability

| Return|

Grassroots organisations, local charities and non-profit community businesses that are seeking to effect positive change within their local area in England, Scotland and Wales can take the first step in the application process by submitting an online expression of interest.

The funding is for new projects, or significant expansions of existing projects, in Great Britain. The projects can be up to 12 months in length.

In 2020, the funding is for projects that relate to the following themes:

  • Improving biodiversity and green spaces.

  • Increasing community access to outdoor space.

  • Combatting climate change and promoting sustainability.

It is likely that projects will be able to relate to multiple themes, and applicants should choose the theme that is most closely related to the intended outcome of their project.

Grants range from £500 to £20,000. Only registered charities can apply for grants of up to £20,000. The maximum grant for groups that are not formally registered as a charity is £2,000.

There is a two-stage application process.

Stage one applications will be accepted from 21 January to 4 February 2020.

How To Apply

The programme has two funding rounds and an online two-stage application process involving an expression of interest form. Those who are successful at the initial stage will be invited to complete a full application.

The 2020 dates for application are:

  • Round 1 Stage 1: 21 January - 4 February

  • Round 1 Stage 2: 10 March - 24 March

  • Round 2 Stage 1: to be announced

  • Round 2 Stage 2: to be announced

The online application form is only available during the Stage 1 dates.

As this is a 'vastly' oversubscribed fund, groups are strongly encouraged to read the guidance notes before starting the application process.
