The Black Artists Grant is funded by Creative Debuts and is given out monthly to a black artist in the UK.
This grant has been set up because black artists are systematically under-supported by the art world; by institutions, curators, the artist-led scene, major and minor funding bodies, the market, art schools and by audiences too.
Objectives of Fund
The aim of the grant is to provide black artists with a 'no-strings attached' financial award to use in whatever way they choose.
The grant is for £500.
Who Can Apply
Recipients must be a black artist in the UK.
There is no age limit.
The grant can be used for any purpose eg make new work, buy equipment or material, travel, research, visit exhibitions/conferences or even to cover life expenses.
How To Apply
Creative Debuts have appointment a selector, ROOT-ed Zine, who will do research to find artists who could benefit from the money. This selector will change every few months. Artists can also put themselves forward by sending an email with their contact details and some images of their work to [email protected]
