Cash for Kids - Cumbria and South West Scotland

Grants are available to individuals, registered charities, sports clubs and voluntary and community organisations based in the CFM Radio broadcast area for projects that benefit children and young people who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect and are 18 years or younger.

Cash for Kids is the official charity of CFM Radio.

Objectives of Fund

The aim is to raise and allocate funds to the thousands of children in the region who rely on charitable support.

Value Notes

No minimum or maximum level of funding is specified. The average grant value is approximately £3,000.

Who Can Apply

Individuals, registered charities, voluntary and community organisations and sports clubs based in the CFM Radio broadcast area may apply.

The broadcast area includes:

  • Copeland.

  • Allerdale.

  • Eden.

  • North Cumbria.

  • The Annandale and Eskdale areas of Southwest Scotland.

Favourable consideration will be given to those projects which directly benefit a number/large number of children and/or positively increase the quality of their lives.


CFM Radio broadcast area which encompasses Cumbria and South West Scotland.


The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Salaries/volunteer expenses.

  • Home improvements (windows and doors/extensions).

  • Holidays abroad for families.

  • Furniture that will not be used specifically by children.

  • School trips abroad.

  • General operational costs.

  • Televisions.

  • Rent/rates for premises.

  • Driving lessons for parents/carers.

  • Medical treatment abroad.

  • PTAs.

  • Sporting events for individuals to participate in.

  • Community Interest Companies.

Eligible Expenditure

Projects should benefit sick, disabled or disadvantaged children and young people who are 18 years or younger.

Grants can be used for a variety of projects, including but not limited to:

  • Buying medical, educational or sporting equipment.

  • Holiday schemes.

  • Transport facilities.

  • Developing activities for children and young people.

  • Buying specialist equipment for individuals.

Preference will be given to projects which directly benefit a number of children and/or positively increase the quality of their lives.

How To Apply

Applications may be submitted at any time. The Local Executive Board will consider applications three times per year.

Information will be broadcast on CFM Radio as well as posted on the CFM Radio website.
