Commissioner’s Covid-19 Community Recovery Fund helping where it is needed most

22 July 2020/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The Covid-19 Community Recovery Fund is specifically for local charities, community and voluntary groups within Cumbria to help them manage the new issues which are arising in light of the coronavirus pandemic and as restrictions ease.  Its aim is to help groups that are struggling to retain their offer of support to victims and communities, or who are looking at different ways of working to continue to achieve their aims.

The fund is particularly looking to support organisations that believe they can have an impact on the priorities within the Police and Crime Plan:-

  • Tackle crime and anti-social behaviour (objective 3)

  • Ensure offenders face a consequence for their crime (objective 4)

  • Always put victims first (objective 5)

  • Focus our police on online and sexual crime (objective 6)

  • Supporting young people (objective 8)

The purpose of the fund is to provide immediate short-term financial assistance to charities, community and voluntary groups who are providing a vital service to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.  There is a recommendation that the projects have been discussed with local policing teams, this will enhance applications to this fund.  All monies received must be spent in their entirety by 31st March 2021.

The Commissioner and a decision making panel will considers applications monthly, applications have now closed for the June round, with the remaining closing dates being 5pm on the last day of July, August and September 2020.

Please ensure applications are received by the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner prior to the closing date. Applications received after the closing date will NOT be considered.

The Fund will be used to award grants following a funding application.  This information pack will explain the process and contains the forms you will need to apply for funding.  Funding will be awarded on the basis of the expected outcomes that your group aim to achieve from a funding award.  Grants will be awarded for amounts up to £5,000.

Each grant will be paid in two stages, 70% at the start of the project and 30% at the end of the project. The 30% final payment will be made at the end of the project subject to us having received a report from you setting out how the grant has helped you achieve your objectives and what changes it has brought about.
