Open 4 Business Portal

Carlisle City Council is providing local businesses with free access to its local business support and grant portal provided by Open4Business. This is tailored for the Carlisle area and includes local, regional and national schemes.

Business can also search for funding relevant to their size and sector. To use the portal, you will first need to register with Open4Business.

Frugi’s Happy Childhood Fund - The deadline for applications is 12pm on 8 July 2020.

Grants are available for small UK charities for projects which support children living in poverty.


Frugi is an organic children’s clothing brand. Each year they aim to donate 1% of their turnover to charity through their ‘Little Clothes BIG Change’ project. Frugi have launched the Happy Childhood Fund this year to improve the lives of children living in poverty in the UK.

Over the past 16 years, Frugi has donated more than £600,000 to charitable causes.

Objectives of Fund

The aim of the Fund is to support small charities who are supporting children living in poverty in the UK. The Fund will support projects which focus on the following three pillars:

  • Hunger

  • Shelter

  • Nature

Value Notes

No minimum or maximum grant amount has been specified.

Who Can Apply

Small grassroots charities in UK communities who are supporting children living in poverty can apply.

Applicants must have a registered charity number.


United Kingdom


Funding is not available to cover running costs.

Eligible Expenditure

The Fund is looking to support small projects which can be funded in their entirety.

Projects should focus on Frugi’s three pillars: hunger, shelter and nature.

Examples of eligible projects are as follows:


Projects relating to:

  • Food banks

  • Community kitchens

  • Holiday hunger


Projects relating to:

  • Homelessness

  • Community centres

  • Foster care

Nature and outdoor spaces

Projects relating to:

  • Community gardens

  • Outdoor experiences

  • Parks and playgrounds

How To Apply

Frugi invites applications four times a year, with the application form being available for three weeks at a time.

The programme is currently open for applications. The deadline for applications is 12pm on 8 July 2020.

Charities should apply using Frugi’s online application form, which can be found on their website.
