Funding for Homelessness Charities in England Affected by COVID-19 Crisis

18 May 2020/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

Charitable organisations that are working to keep people who are homeless safe and supported during the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 (depending on the annual turnover of the organisation).

To be eligible, organisations must be incorporated and have one of the following legal structures:

  • Registered charity.

  • Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

  • Community Benefit Society.

  • Community Interest Company (with asset lock).

Organisations must be small to medium sized (with an annual turnover of less than £5 million) and have forecast unrestricted cash reserves of below three months following the impact of COVID-19 this financial year.

The grants are for revenue funding only and are to be spent on organisational sustainability in order to ensure the ongoing of activities that help keep people who are homeless safe and supported during the pandemic. The grants can be used for either or both of the following purposes:

  • To help alleviate the financial impact of COVID-19 on the organisation. This may be because of a reduction in actual or expected income this year, and/or as a result of higher costs that have been incurred or are expected to be incurred as a result of providing services to beneficiaries as a direct result of the crisis.

  • To provide new or adapted services to people who are homeless and affected by COVID-19.

The first deadline for applications is 27 May 2020.
