This summer, the Chancellor announced £1.5 billion of support through the Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme. Under the initiative, the Government will fund up to two thirds of the cost of home improvements, up to £5,000, for homes in England. This is expected to support approximately 100,000 jobs in the construction sector and is a part of Government’s green economic recovery through and beyond COVID-19.
To strengthen and build the low carbon sector further, and support the rollout of the Green Homes Grant scheme, the Government is launching the Green Homes Grant Skills Training Competition. This competition invites organisations to submit proposals for delivering skills training and support to installers and installer organisations intending to operate under the scheme.
The competition will make up to £6.9 million of funding available for projects to deliver energy efficiency and low carbon heating installation skills training and accreditation support. A maximum of £1 million will be available for each individual training project.
The eligible costs are those relating to a training project, including trainers' personnel costs, operating costs directly relating to the training project and the costs of advisory services.
The deadline for applications is 14 October 2020 (23:00 BST).
Note: homeowners and landlords will be able to start applying for Green Homes Grant vouchers from the end of September 2020.
