Isla Foundation – Immediate Impact Grants

Grants are available for voluntary and community organisations, schools and PTAs, clubs and societies, and entrepreneurial individuals in the UK for small-scale, short-term projects that create a positive change in people’s lives and in their communities.

Set up in 2013, the Isla Foundation offers funding to grassroots organisations and charities across the UK that provide vital help to the most vulnerable in society.

Objectives of Fund

Immediate Impact grants are to be used for short-term, small-scale projects that respond to the needs expressed by local communities across the UK.

Value Notes

Grants of between £300 and £2,000 are available.

Who Can Apply

Applications will be considered from:

  • Community groups with a three months’ bank statement and social media handles. It is preferred that community groups work with another organisation.

  • Small and medium-sized user-led organisations (with an annual income of at least £75,000).

  • Other medium-sized organisations (with an annual income of at least £250,000).




The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Larger organisations with an annual income greater than £10 million.

  • Work outside of the UK.

  • Fundraising events.

  • Repayment of debt

  • Redundancy costs.

  • Contribution to reserves.

  • Religious events.

Eligible Expenditure

The funding can support a wide range of projects aimed at creating positive changes in people’s lives and in their communities.

Projects need to match at least one of the following criteria:

  • Work led by communities who have /have had direct experience of the issues at hand.

  • Projects defined and implemented by the communities they are serving.

  • Projects in need of small amounts of additional funding to transform new ideas into successful initiatives.

  • Community heroes – someone who has played a pivotal role in a community response to the pandemic, or led efforts to make their community more inclusive, safe or welcoming.

Examples of projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Improving community spaces.

  • Encouraging social cohesion through sport, art, community activities.

  • Promoting education, the environment or health in the local community.

Grants can also be used to test an idea through a pilot.

The funding can be used for:

  • Capital costs (such as building and land improvements)

  • Staff costs

  • Running costs

  • Activities

  • Equipment

  • Other core costs needed to support the project.

  • One time events if the Foundation understands their wider play in the project’s aim

How To Apply

There are no application deadlines. Decisions will be communicated three weeks after applications are received and the funding starts five weeks after the applications are received.
