New Funding Round of History Makers Award for Museums

20 October 2020/Categories: Grants_and_Funding

The Association of Independent Museums (AIM)/Biffa Award: History Makers programme supports AIM member museums in England by funding new exhibitions that will inspire the public through the lives and achievements of extraordinary, historical figures who have made a significant impact on the industrial, creative industries and arts, scientific, commercial or social history of the UK.

AIM want the funded exhibitions to be inspiring and exciting – especially for young people studying STEAM subjects – and they are especially keen to hear about exhibitions that would feature:

  • female history makers

  • notable people from the 20th century

  • people that have made a positive impact in the different and diverse communities of England.

Applicants must be an AIM member museum or heritage site based in England and located within 25 miles of a Biffa Award operations site and 10 miles from a Landfill site to be eligible.

Exhibitions/interpretation funded by History Makers must be fully accessible to the public for a minimum of 104 days per year.

The total amount available for round five is £298,260 and it is expected that grants will be awarded to four or five projects.

Grants cover both capital and revenue expenditure and museums will receive full support from AIM in promoting their project.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by the deadline of 14 December 2020.

How To Apply

Expression of interest forms can be downloaded from AIM's website.

Projects should, ideally, be discussed with the AIM Grants and Project Officer prior to application.
