Objectives of Fund
The England Illegal Money Lending Team has funding available for groups that want to raise awareness of the issues of illegal money lending.
The aim of this funding is to give groups the opportunity to raise awareness of the issue, in their community in a different way.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available.
Who Can Apply
Local charities, community and voluntary groups, schools, statutory agencies and local residents in England can apply.
Successful applicants will be expected to book free “Stop Loan Sharks” training which will be delivered by a member of the IMLT for staff and/or volunteers (if they have not already had this).
The following are not eligible for funding:
Staff training and publicity materials as they can be provided free of charge by local IMLT LIAISE officers.
Repeating an existing project.
Staff salaries, day to day running costs of organisation or vehicle costs.
Office equipment including laptops.
Film productions and plays. (Only productions and plays that have a guaranteed audience of at least 50 people will be considered for funding.)
Freebies, publicity merchandise and distribution costs.
Food (tea and coffee can be funded for projects).
Any costs incurred whilst producing the application.
The funding can be used for ‘any worthwhile’ community project that meets the following criteria:
Contributes to raising awareness of the dangers of using loan sharks.
Prevents crime and disorder and makes a difference in local communities.
Promotes the work of the Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) in communities.
Encourages reporting of loan sharks and signposts victims to the team.
IMLT actively encourages projects and initiatives that are different from the rest and will leave a legacy in the communities they are delivered in.
Projects should meet the following five aims:
Value for money
It is unknown at this stage when everything will get back to normal. The project completion date would normally be 31 March 2021 but has been extended until 31 August 2021 to acknowledge the fact that some projects may get off to a slow start.
How To Apply
Applications will be accepted from 1 June 2020 until midnight 31 August 2020.
An application form and FAQs document are available on the Stop Loan Sharks website.
To claim the funding, grant recipients must invoice the IMLT.
